When creating a marking feedback sheet , the relevant information (student details, marks, and so on) are passed to a word-processed template that contains specific search terms (see Figure 1). The template file needs to be saved in "rtf" format (a "Rich Text File"). This is done so that the full features of a favoured word processor can be used. These search terms are replaced by the key text that forms the basis of the feedback report (see Figure 2). For example, in the template file the text "studentName" can be replaced by the student's name from the main marking grid. Similarly, "feedback1" can be replaced by the text representing the marker's written comments that refer to how well the student performed against each of the marking criteria (see Figure 3). These search-and-replace terms can be viewed and edited by selecting "Set the Search And Replace Terms" from the "Marking Feedback Sheet" menu. The template file can be identified by selecting "Define the template file" from the "Marking Feedback Sheet" menu.

Figure 2. Example of a marking sheet template. The key terms, such as ModuleCode, will be replaced by their corresponding text (e.g., "psy1234") when the marking report sheet is created.
