Some tutors may not like marking in fron tof their desktop or laptop but may prefer to mark in other ways (for example, on a train, in an armchair at home, or at the breakfast table!). Such, "breakfast table marking", as we might call it, is preferred by some and this is entirely legitimate. One way around this problem is for such markers to use offline marking sheets. These are marking sheets that contain the coursework information, the marking criteria, their definitions, and so on. The marker can record their assessment for each criterion as well as a few comments indicating the sorts of remarks they would choose to write in full in the feedback sheet to the student.
Later, the marker can enter this information in Marker's Black Box without losing the essence of marking with this application.
These offline marking sheets can be created automatically by selecting Tools > Create Offline Marking Sheet (figure 1). An example sheet is shown in Figure 2.
